Network meeting in StrugaNetwork meeting in Struga

Kvinna The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation initiated its co-operation with Macedonian women's organisations in 1999 and in September the same year we opened a field office in the capital Skopje. Today we have seven partner organisations, which work in various ways to increase gender equality in Macedonia. For instance, there are organisations that focus on violence against women, trafficking and education in human rights and issues of gender equality. A number of organisations run centres for women, which provide different types of vocational training and information on women's health.

The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation also supports networks and organisations that work for ethnic reconciliation in Macedonia. We have organised several meetings with women from the different ethnic groups to encourage them to co-operate for peace in the country. Representatives of our Macedonian partner organisations have also visited Sweden to study Swedish women's participation in politics. The visit inspired several of these women to become politically active themselves.
