The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation first came to Liberia in 2007. We met with women organizations from different parts of the country and international organizations who were active there. Liberia has a long history of violence, armed conflicts and high unemployment rates and many of these problems remain, in spite of the peace treaty in 2003. Sexual violence, home-based violence, weaknesses in the legal systems and the fact that women aren’t allowed to participate in decision-making, are some of the most important issues for women in Liberia.

Since 2009 the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation has recieved financial support from Radiohjälpen to support the organization Center for Liberian Assistance (CLA). CLA work with vulnerable girls and young women in Monrovia and the organization recieved the Anna Lindh award in 2011.

Through a SIDA financed program the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation now also cooperates with, and support, six other women organizations in Liberia. Two of them are also connected to a large number of member organizations (WONGOSOL & SEWODA).

In 2011 we opened a field office in Monrovia and is now one of few Swedish organizations who are present there. We support projects that educates women about their rights; at home, in the political and social life and within the legal system. Our partner organizations make up an impressive network for and with women of all parts of society – a network that strengthens women and their participation in decision-making. During the autumn of 2011 the Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation supports several partner organizations' activities surrounding the presidential election.
