Margot Wallström becomes ”Kvinna till Kvinna-friend”

During her last day as the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on sexual violence in conflict, Margot Wallström decided to become a Kvinna till Kvinna-friend and thereby support the organization’s work. This was announced during a visit to The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation´s office in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Margot Wallström expressed her gratitude for all the support that Kvinna till Kvinna and women’s organizations all over the world have given her during her two years as a UN Special Representative.

– The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation provides invaluable support and protection for women in conflict regions. The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation highlights the link between stopping sexual violence against women and achieving sustainable peace. The organization works tirelessly to lift women’s perspectives on peace and security to the international political level, says Margot Wallström.

– We are happy and proud of Margot Wallström’s support! In the short period of two years as a Special Representative she has made important contributions and advanced the positions concerning measures against sexual violence. She has managed to put sexual violence in conflict on the UN Security Council´s agenda, and her work helps showing war criminals that they can no longer count on impunity, says Lena Ag, Secretary General of The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation.
